The K-City Network project, hosted by Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and the Korea Intelligent Transportation Systems Association (KAIA), is providing new opportunities for international cooperation. This project aims to support the development of smart cities in overseas locations through inter-governmental collaboration, enabling Korean smart city companies to build a global network. As part of this project, Puerto Princesa City in the Philippines and Korea’s ESE Corporation will join hands to demonstrate smart disaster/safety and tourism solutions.
This collaboration, running from April 30 to December 31, 2024, focuses on leveraging smart technologies to increase the efficiency of disaster response and safety management, and to innovatively improve the tourism industry. Kyeong-sik Park, CEO of ESE Co., Ltd., stated, “Through this project, we had the opportunity to apply cutting-edge technology to an actual tourist city environment.” Mayor Bayron of Puerto Princesa City also noted, “This is an important example of how smart technology can contribute to the safety of the local community and the development of tourism.”
This project is part of an effort to strengthen disaster response capabilities by combining Korea’s advanced technology with the Philippines’ regional characteristics and to provide tourists with a safer and more convenient visit experience. Through this initiative, the two countries plan to enhance mutual cooperation and further accelerate the development of sustainable smart city solutions.
