Nanawagan ang Supreme Student Council ng Western Philippines University Puerto Princesa Campus sa kanilang mga kapuwa-estudyante na pumirma sa petisyon para suportahan ang kahilingan na alisin ang City Motocross Racetrack sa Bgy. Sta. Monica malapit sa nabanggit na pamantasan.
“After the University Flag Raising Ceremony on October 1, 2024, ALL STUDENTS at the Octagon Shed in front of SSC Office, in support of the request to remove the City Motocross racetrack located behind the covered-gymnasium at the WPU-PPC campus.”
Umani ito ng negatibong reaksiyon mula sa mga estudyante at mga netizens na anila’y kulang at kailangang ilatag sa kanila ang “pros and cons” ng racetrack at nasabing kahilingan.
“[Sana may kasamang explanation o context bakit need ng students mag-sign ng petition. Para, at least, ‘yong ibang mga hindi alam ‘yong issue ay maliwanagan din kung bakit need mag-sign ng petition na ipasara ‘yong motocross racetrack],” ayon sa netizen.
Kaugnay nito, kinuwestiyon din ng mga netizens ang ginamit na mga salitang “required” at “encouraged”.
“First of all, how come a student organization force its students to sign a petition?
Isa pa, how could you organize a petition drive without an initial explanation for your students to understand it and vouch for their support?
Kung gusto [ninyo] ng signatories, better to inform them man lang muna, not to enforce kaagad you or your Admin’s personal interests,” komento pa ng isa.
Samantala, mababasa naman sa comment section ng published post na ilalatag din ng student council ang mga kaugnay na detalye at paglilinaw hinggil sa panawagan.
“The Supreme Student Council will provide further details and clarification at a later time with regard to the request for the removal of the City Motocross racetrack,” student council.
