PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Kinumpirma ng Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) na si “Mangayon”, ang batang lalaking agila na na-rescue sa Brgy. Mangayon, bayan ng Compostela, Davao de Oro nitong Hulyo 8, ang ikaapat na kaso ng agilang biktima ng gunshot ngayong taon.
Ngayong araw, Huwebes, inanunsiyo ng pamunuan na pumanaw na ang agila dahil sa severe blood loss matapos magtamo ng sugat sa kaliwang bahagi ng pakpak nito dulot umano ng improvised “jolen” o marble gun.
“[T]he eagle underwent a series of physical and medical examinations. The medical assessment revealed severe damage, with shattered bones observed in the left tarsal joints.
The attending veterinarian, Dr. Bayani Vandenbroeck, discovered an entry wound in the left tarsal area of the eagle’s wing, which exited through the opposite side and extended to the left keel area of Mangayon’s wing.”
