NILAGDAAN na ang isang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sa pagitan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at ng Department of Justice (DOJ) kaugnay sa Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security o RISE project.
Ang ceremonial signing ay isinagawa noong ika-13 ng Hulyo taong kasalukuyan at personal na sinaksihan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Batay sa inilabas na impormasyon ng Presidential Communications Office, ang RISE ay ang pagtutulungan ng DA at DOJ para sa rehabilitasyon ng mga lupang sakahan sa mga prison reservation at penal farms ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) bilang suporta sa pagkakaroon ng sapat na suplay ng pagkain sa bansa alinsabay sa pagbibigay-kakayahan sa mga persons deprived of liberties (PDLs) at ang paghahanda sa kanilang paglaya.
Sa talumpati ni PBBM, tinuran nito na ang Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm o IPPF sa lungsod ng Puerto Princesa ang magiging pilot site ng proyektong ito. Aniya, hindi lang ito maghihikayat sa mga public-private partnerships (PPPs), magsisilbi rin itong inspirasyon sa bawat isa na magsagawa ng mga kahalintulad na aktibidad na mag-iiwan ng pangmatagalang positibong epekto sa komunidad.
“It is more pragmatic and effective to allocate our scarce resources wisely and ensure that all our initiatives are aligned, coordinated, and integrated through a whole-of-nation approach.
Rest assured that this Administration will continue to reinforce these pursuits and fortify the foundation that we have laid by monitoring the progress of our projects,” ani PBBM.
Ayon pa sa Pangulo, napakahalaga na nagtutulungan ang iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan para makabuo ng komprehensibong mga hakbangin para makamit ang isang partikular na layunin kaya nanawagan rin ito sa mas marami pang proyekto tulad ng RISE dahil importante ang whole-of-nation approach sa pagkamit ng food security.
“In fact, among this Administration’s priorities are the attainment of food security and Zero Hunger under the Sustainable Development Goals. These twin priorities require cooperation amongst all disciplines and across all sectors. We must delve into the underlying causes of food insecurity, of poverty, inequality, and the lack of access to resources,” binigyang diin pa ng Pangulo.
