PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Opisyal nang idineklara ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Cagayancillo, Palawan, ang ibong Red-footed booby (Sula-sula) o tinatawag na “Ko-ok” ng mga residente bilang flagship species ng bayan matapos naaprubahan ang Municipal Ordinance No. 291-S-2024.
“The Red-footed booby (Sula-sula) is a large seabird of the booby family, Sulidae. Adults always have red feet, but the colour of the plumage varies. They are powerful and agile fliers, but they are clumsy in takeoffs and landings. They are found widely in the tropics, and breed colonially in coastal regions, especially islands,” bahagi ng anunsiyo.
Nakasaad sa ordinansa na ang Red Footed Booby ay protektado nito kung saan may karampatang parusa ang sinumang lalabag sa nasabing lokal na kautusan.
“…[P]roviding its protection and conservation and imposing penalties for violations,” nilalaman ng anunsiyo.
