“As we welcome 2024 with renewed enthusiasm and hope for our country’s tourism industry, we are also excited about the ongoing restoration of the Fort Master’s Quarter (which was later converted into the Fort’s Chapel) of Fuerza Sta. Isabel de la Paragua.

We are now realizing the fruits of more than six years of our dedicated research, site assessments, consultation with heritage architects, and preparation of the 150-page Conservation Management Plan of Fuerza Sta. Isabel de la Paragua,” bahagi ng ulat.

Sa loob ng anim na taong pagsasaliksik at pagsisiyat sa nasabing ‘old fort’, naaprubahan ang Certificate of No Objection mula sa pamunuan ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines o NHCP na nilagdaan ni Rene Escalante noong nakalipas na Marso 16 taong 2022.

“This culminated with the issuance of a Certificate of No Objection from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) last March 16, 2022, which signaled the beginning of our restoration efforts in the fort, following NHCP guidelines. [W]e are getting closer to another milestone in our town’s history,” dagdag ng lokal na pamahalaan.

“The NHCP is amenable to thr proposed conservation of the Fuerza Sta. Isabel including its vicinity. We the local government’s effort to preserve the old fort and all its remaining heritage sites and structures as a legacy for future generations,” nilalaman ng liham.
