Sec. Frasco, suportado ang MICE Industry sa Puerto Princesa

Suportado ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang industriya ng MICE o meetings, incentives, conventions, events/exhibits sa lungsod, ayon kay DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.

Aniya, tinutulungan nila ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Puerto Princesa na makakuha ng akreditasyon mula sa Tourism Infrastructure and Economic Zone Authority (TIEZA) para sa deklarasyon ng environmental estate sa Barangay Sta. Lucia at Quito area sa lungsod.

Kung ito ay maisasakatuparan, malaki ang magiging adbentahe nito para makakuha ng mga mamumuhunan para sa pagtatayo ng convention center sa Puerto Princesa.

“The request of the City of Puerto Princesa is really to support their MICE industry. That is why were are now working in close coordination with both Mayor (Lucilo) Bayron both as well as TIEZA to register their designated area as a Tourism Economic Zone (TEZ) para naman po maka-attract tayo ng investments from private sector in putting up convention center in [Puerto Princesa City],” ayon sa Kalihim nang kapanayamin ng lokal midya.

Ayon naman kay Bayron, turismo ang pangunahing industriya sa lungsod ng Puerto Princesa kaya naman pokus ng lokal na pamahalaan ang Eco, MICE, Sports at Cruiseship Tourism.

“In MICE tourism gusto ko pong ipaabot sa mga kababayan namin sa lungsod ng Puerto Princesa, sa lalawigan ng Palawan atsaka kay DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco that we have passed the second stage ng ating application to a Tourism Economic Zone (TEZ) designation of our environmental estate na sinumbmit natin sa TIEZA.

Ite-take up sa board this July 23 at hopefully ma-approve na ito, ito ang last stage, and after that, finally, designated na yung ating environmental estate as Tourism Economic Zone and we can take advantage of national, fiscal and non fiscal incentives..,” pahayag ni Bayron.

Nitong nagdaang taong 2023, malaki ang naitulong ng MICE sa pagbangon ng turismo sa Puerto Princesa.

Sa datos ng City Tourism Office, umabot sa 800 MICE ang isinagawa sa lungsod noong 2023 na nagdala ng halos 70,000 partisipanteng turista.
