U. S., ‘Pinas, isinusulong ang reporma sa edukasyon ng bansa

NILAGDAAN ng gobyerno ng Estados Unidos, sa pamamagitan ng U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), ang isang Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) kasama ang Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II) na ginanap sa Senado ng Pilipinas nitong ika-7 ng Setyembre 2023 na naglalayong pahusayin ang kapasidad ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas na maghatid ng dekalidad na edukasyon.

Nilagdaan ni USAID Mission Director Washburn ang MOU kasama sina EDCOM II Co-Chairpersons Senator Sherwin Gatchalian na nagsilbing Chairman ng Senate Committee on Basic Education at Vice Chairman ng Senate Committee on Basic Education at Vice Chairman ng Senate Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education, habang si Rep. Romulo ay Chairperson ng House Committee on Basisc Education.

“The Memorandum of Understanding underscores the mutual commitment of our two countries to work together to shape the future of Philippine education in order to make it a key driver of prosperity for all Filipinos,” ani Washburn.

“Reforming the Philippine education sector is no easy task that requires the inputs and expertise of advocates and partners. We are grateful to the USAID for steadfastly supporting education programs in the country, and we look forward to their contributions in reviewing and reforming the state of education in the country,” tinuran ni Sen. Gatchalian.

“This MOU demonstrates the depth of our countries’ friendship with one another. Access to quality education will unleash the full potential of Filipinos. Thank you to the USAID for its support to enhancing our Philippine education system,” saad ni Rep. Romulo.

Ibinahagi ng USAID ang layunin ng Pilipinas na gawing mapagkumpitensya ang bansa sa pandaigdigang edukasyon at merkado sa paggawa.

Ang EDCOM II ay isang pambansang komisyon na tumitingin sa mga prayoridad na lugar gaya ng early childhood care and development, pangunahing edukasyon, mas mataas na edukasyon, teknikal-bokasyonal na edukasyon at pagsasanay, at panghabambuhay na pag-aaral, pati na rin ang mga cross-cutting na isyu sa pamamahala at pananalapi, batay sa ulat ng Information Department of US Embassy in the Philippines.

Sa nakalipas na dekada, ang gobyerno ng U.S., sa mamagitan ng USAID, ay namuhunan ng halos $200 milyon upang palakasin ang kapasidad ng mga kasapi sa edukasyon sa Pilipinas na himukin ang inklusibo at napapanatiling paglago.
