TINANGGAL na ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang mga boya o floating barriers na pinangharang ng China Coast Guard (CCG) sa entrada ng Bajo de Masinloc, malapit sa Scaraborough Shoal sa loob ng Exclusive Economic Zone o EEZ ng Pilipinas bilang pagtalima sa kautusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at direktiba ni National Security Adviser at National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) Chairman Eduardo Año.
Inihayag ni CG Commodore Jay Tarriela, tagapagsalita ng PCG, na ang mga boyang inilagay sa BDM ay malinaw na paglabag sa batas internasyunal.
“It also hinders the conduct of fishing and livelihood activities of Filipino fisherfolk in BDM, which is an integral part of the Philippine national territory,” pahayag ni Tarriela.
“Thus, any obstruction hindering the livelihoods of Filipino fisherfolk in the shoal violates the international law. It also infringes on the Philippines’ sovereignty over BDM,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
Sinabi rin ng tagapagsalita na ang aksiyon ng Philippine Coast Guard na alisin ang mga boya sa nabanggit na katubigan ay nakabatay sa batas internasyunal at soberanya ng Pilipinas.
