Inilagak ang mga labi ni Dr. Sabine Schoppe, kilalang German conservation biologist at co-founder ng Katala Foundation, sa kaniyang childhood home, ayon sa pahayag.
Pumanaw ang kilalang conservationist sa edad na 63.
“It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Sabine Schoppe. She was laid to rest peacefully in her childhood home on September 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones,” pahayag ng pamunuan ng Philippine Cockatoo Conservation Program.
“We remember her as a scholar, a guiding force in conservation, and a deeply cherished friend. In many ways, she shaped the lives of the people around her and the animals she so devotedly worked to protect. Her passing leaves a profound void in our hearts,” dagdag pa nila.
Ayon pa sa pamunuan ng Philippine Cockatoo Conservation Program, kanilang ibabahagi ang karagdagang detalye para sa memorial service ni Dr. Sabine sa Puerto Princesa.
“As we make the necessary arrangements for her memorial service in Puerto Princesa, we humbly ask for your prayers and thoughts. Further details will be shared as soon as they are finalized,” pahayag pa ng pamunuan.
Pinangunahan ni Dr. Schoppe ang conservation program ng Philippine Cockatoo, Palawan Pangolin Conservation Program, at Philippine Freshwater Turtle sa ilalim ng Katala Foundation, Inc.
