BASAHIN: Hiniling ni NBI Director Melvin Matibag sa House Prosecution panel na mapaaga ang kaniyang pagdalo sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio.

“I write to respectfully manifest my readiness to appear as a witness before the Honorable Prosecution Panel, and to request that my testimony be calendared at the earliest setting convenient to the Panel — in any event, on or before 20 July 2026,” ayon sa sulat ni Matibag.

Aniya, nakatakda siyang dumalo sa Scam Center Compounds and Transnational Organized Crime Regional Summit na gaganapin sa Bangkok, Thailand, sa darating na Hulyo 21 hanggang Hulyo 22.

“This request is occasioned by an official commitment abroad. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, in coordination with the Royal Thai Police, has invited the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to the inaugural Regional Summit on Scam Center Compounds and Transnational Organized Crime, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 21–22 July 2026,” nilalaman ng kaniyang liham.

“As Director of the Bureau, I will personally attend to represent the NBI at this summit of director- and commissioner general-level law enforcement leaders across the Asia-Pacific, which will require my travel and attendance on those dates.

In view thereof, I respectfully request that I be scheduled to take the witness stand prior to my departure so that my participation in the Summit will neither disrupt the proceedings nor delay the presentation of my testimony. I remain fully prepared to cooperate and to make myself available at any earlier date the Panel may determine,” ani Matibag.
